Vicks
VapoRub To Treat Fungal Nail Infections
Vicks
Vapor Rub (or Vapo Rub or VapoRub) is another product that has
an alternative use - traditionally used a product to ease symptoms of
the common cold it is also used by many to cure toenail fungus.
A
fairly new fungal combatant Vicks is mostly used on the toenails rather
than the fingernails. The reason for this is that Vicks Vapor Rub is
for external use only and we are less likely to touch our mouth with
our feet than hands - or least most of us are.
Many suffers from toenail
fungus have had
success with Vicks although there is no conclusive evidence and
certainly no clinical studies or trials conducted to underline
this.
Vicks is freely available
to buy without prescription - there is no
specific Vicks Vapor Rub product design expressly for fungal infections

How To
Use Vicks VapoRub To Fight Toenail Fungus
The application is a
fairly simple process -
the method does not involve soaking your feet but using a cloth or
cotton wool swab to apply to the infected toenail or toenails.
Ideally applied at night just before bedtime the formula can
then work throughout the night. Some users have found it best
to wear socks to stop the medication from rubbing off onto bed linen -
Vicks can stain. Vicks should be used consistantly for up to 6 months
and do not expect a miraculous improvement.
Vicks
VapoRub Side Effects
If used as described then
no long term or
serious side effects will occur. It is best advised that Vicks is not
for meant to be consumed or for internal use - so do not
drink.
A mild side effect of
using Vicks Vapor Rub
to rid nail fungus is the slight discoloration of nails - this is
another reason that it is mostly applied to toenails rather than
fingernails. Although the fungus will most likley discolor your nails
anyway - your hands are in view most of the day and the bluey tinge is
more noticeable than the yellowy color that the infection incurs.
Is
Vicks VapoRub Effective For Toenail Fungus
Vicks is becomming
increasingly more popular
as a home remedy to fight fungal nail infections - as it is a farily
new discovery not much concrete proof has been gathered yet and so the
preference would be for the vinegar cure if a home solution is sought.
Should
I Use Vicks to Treat Toenail Fungus
Possibly not (yet) home
user therapies are
long term - if after several months no sign of improvement is noticed
it will be back to square one with potentially a worsening fungal
condition.
