Natural Nail Fungus Treatments

There are many home cures or treatments for nail fungus some have a higher success rate than others. It is of utmost importance to understand that the fungal infection will not simply vanish overnight. All home fungus treatments must be viewed as a long term approach.

The postives of using a home remedy to treat nail fungus is that nothing unnatural or alien is introduced to your body - most home remedies involve external application so the possible side effects are minimal or greatly reduced.

The negative aspect to home nail fungus treatment is that is a fairly long winded approach and success depends on the severity of the fungal infection.

Tee tree oil has antiboitic properties and when applied to affected nails 2 or 3 times a day can reduce the irritation ok skin around the nails. Tea tree oil is not as affective to help fight the infection.

Oregano Oil and Olive Oil - Applying a few drops of oregano oil with a spoon full of olive oil can reduce the inflamtion and soreness of the nail bed. Oregano oil has antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal agents so can be effective. It is suggested to not use this method for longer than 3 to four weeks. 3 to weeks is not long enough to fight the fungal infection, it will almost certainly return.

Old Wives Tales...

Hot Water - A failry common treatment but one that is recommended you do not try for obvious reasons is to dip the infected nails into scoulding hot water. This method will cause more problems than it solves
